Job Title: Prison Education Program Financial Assistance Representative

Reports To: Director of Financial Assistance in consultation with the Provost.

 

 GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Prison Education Program Financial Aid Representative will provide guidance to students in the Prison Education Program. This position has a primary focus on state aid and on document tracking.  Position is located on the CMU Fayette Campus.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Review reports and forms to track students and identify necessary actions. 10%
  2. Work in NSLDS and COD systems, as needed 10%
  3. Process state applications as directed by the Director of Financial Aid. 25%
  4. Communicate with students, advisors, and Provost as needed. 10%
  5. Work with the Department of Corrections to address any FA hurdles. 10%
  6. Track and acquire documentation for students as needed. 20%
  7. Update information in the SIS as required. 15%
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Baccalaureate degree required

Graduate degree preferred

Experience working in a higher education service setting required

Experience working in Financial Aid preferred

Must meet the Department of Corrections requirements for entry into the prison facilities

Note: To enter any of the Missouri Department of Corrections (MODOC) facilities, you must comply with all MODOC security requirements, including but not limited to; full-body scanner, walk-through metal detector, handheld detectors, and X-ray baggage scanners. 

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sit for long periods of time on the computer;
  • May work in buildings without elevator access, requiring routine use of stairways to move between floors (when in a correctional facility).
  • May work in areas of a facility without air conditioning (when in a correctional facility).
